Dried Fruits

Almonds - Mamra

Mamro/Mamra almonds are concave in shape and thinner than the widely available California Almonds. They contain a higher almond oil content compared to other varieties of almonds, making them a rich source of calcium, protein, minerals, and vitamins.

Though best eaten plain, you can also incorporate them in your daily diet in different ways:
- Top up your cereal/granola/muesli with chopped Mamras to add an extra buttery crunch to your breakfast bowls.
- Power up your salads or yogurt with a few blanched and chopped almonds.
- Crush and add them to your favourite dessert, like sheera or add to your cake/cookie batter.

Abjosh (Munakka)

Abjosh (munakka), a variety of naturally dried grapes, contains seeds.

Before starting the drying phase, the grapes are dropped into boiling water for a few seconds in order to slightly crack the skin without damaging the inside of the fruit. This process is called “abjosh”, from which the raisin gets its name. This speeds up the time needed for the fruit to dry. The grapes are then placed in the sun for up to six days.
